Can you draft a biased, one-sided agreement that just protects me?

No, sorry. This would fly in the face of the court's requirement for the agreement to be fair and reasonable in all the circumstances, and may well contravene the Unfair Contract Terms Act. But certainly there are agreements drafted subtly in favour of one party or another that are still enforceable.

Can you just sell us a template and we'll fill in the blanks?

Yes. Many, but not all, agreements are well suited to this kind of format, although some agreements, such as prenuptial agreements, have a series of safeguards, protocols and legal requirements that need to be followed to avoid it being set aside on one of several grounds. Such agreements involve the parties in processes that need to be 'managed' by experienced practitioners, rather than leaving assets at risk by lay clients completing a form and hoping for the best.

Whilst we do, rarely, set up meetings with clients who have particular requirements, such meetings, in common with all law firms, are chargeable. Agreements.co.uk is essentially an online legal services network of lawyers that provides companies and individuals with legal agreements at a substantial discount, simply because all communication is online. We have no partners' fees, office buildings or other costs associated with running a high street law firm.

Setting up face to face meetings, or maintaining a solicitor/client relationship defeats the object of reducing costs, and would only serve to increase them, thereby removing our competitive edge. We do recognise that there are clients who don't like the Internet and prefer to pay substantially more for the traditional face to face approach. Our aim is to provide you with a first class legal agreement, expertly drafted to your requirements at a fixed low cost. We want your agreement to fit your needs perfectly and for all our clients to be satisfied with the service we provide. Thus we do not stipulate a finite number of drafts, particularly if we failed to understand your requirements fully. Normally we would expect to provide two or three redrafts of a bespoke agreement, but occasionally, with highly complex agreements, this estimate is doubled without additional cost to our clients. Unlike solicitors we do not charge by the hour, either for drafting, reviewing or correspondence.

Do all your agreements come with a guarantee that they won't be challenged by other lawyers?

No. In common with all law firms, no guarantees are provided that the agreements we provide will not be challenged at some time or other. After all, lawyers are in the business of challenging each others agreements; it's how they make their living.
